As Aristotle puts it in his Ethics that good is what every action aims at and the good of the every individual is the pursuit of science of politics. What he said was perhaps realized by some, and today we bring you one of the prominent politicians in India who were among the IIT pass-outs. While about 9.65 Lakh applications have received for the 2019 session of JEE Main, here are some of the facts about the men of the moment, i.e. IIT Alumni who joined the art of politics in India.

1. Ajit Singh - Born in Meert, Uttar Pradesh, Ajit Singh became a political figure of India and was behind the creation of the Political Party known as Rashtriya Lok Dal. RLD was a popular in the state of UP. Ajit Singh is the son of former Prime Minister of India, Late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh. Ajit Singh has loads to share about his education. He has a B. Sc. Degree from Lucknow University; a B Tech Degree from IIT Kharagpur; and Master’s degree from Illinois Institute of Technology USA. Ajit Singh became a member of Rajya Sabha during the year of 1986, and since then he was going pretty strong. He became the president of Lok Dal and Janata Party in the successive years respectively. Ajit Singh, amid controversies, held many esteemed positions in his political career.

2. Arvind Kejriwal - No list of politicians with IIT background is complete without Arvind Kejriwal. What started as a mere protest against corruption, Kejriwal’s political career skyrocketed since then. Kejriwal was a member of an upper middle class family from Bhiwani, Haryana. He secured a rank of 563 in the then IIT-JEE, and completed his graduation in mechanical engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Kejriwal cleared the UPSC examination and joined the IRS and finally resigned to become the chief minister of Delhi. Kejriwal is the convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Soon, amid tons of controversies including the stepping down from the chief minister position after 49 days of sovereignty, Kejriwal won the Delhi Assembly polls with a massive majority of 67 seats out of 70. No matter what, Arvind Kejriwal is certainly one man to be inspired from.

3. Jairam Ramesh - Another one on the list of IITians in the field of Indian Politics would definitely be Jairam Ramesh. Born on 9th April 1954 to C K Ramesh and Sridevi Ramesh, Jairam Ramesh completed in schooling from several parts of India. Jairam Ramesh went on to graduating in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1975, and later, did a master’s of science in public policy and public management. Ramesh represents the state of Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha since 2004. Later, Ramesh was promoted to secure a position in Union Council of Ministers of India and was given the responsibly of managing the Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. Furthermore, Ramesh is the member of Indian National Congress.

4. Manohar Parrikar - Born on 13th December 1955 in Goa, Manohar Parrikar went on to become 3 time chief minister of Goa. Parikkar finished his schooling from Margoa and finished his secondary education in Marathi. Manohar Parikkar completed his graduation in metallurgical engineering from IIT Bombay. His political career kick-started by joining the RSS and finally to BJP. Parikkar received many honorary Awards including Honorary Directorate of NIT Goa, CNN IBN Indian of the year, and distinguished alumni award from IIT Bombay. Amid controversies and personal tragedies, Parikkar stood his ground and achieved very many things.

5. Jayant Sinha - Born on 21st April 1963 to Yashwant Sinha and Nilima Sinha, Jayant Sinha went on to participate in the Indian Political scenario since 1990. He is current Minister of State of Civil Aviation and a member of Indian Parliament. Sinha represented Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The remarkable Jayant Sinha cleared the JEE Main while he was still in his 11th standard. He completed his graduation from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and later finished his Master’s in Science in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania. He also sworn-in as minister of state in Union Council of Ministers.

These are only few of the numerous personalities that touch and inspire us in every ways. Engineering, especially in India, has been a field of study that deems as prestigious and a threshold for various job opportunities. Students, for pursuing their passion, would start their preparation from as early as 6th grade. And with remarkable personalities to fill the void of motivation and inspiration, our pursuit of achieving very many great things is not at all that far. These political personalities may have their own personal tragedies, yet they did not stop and went on to achieve and inspire everyone. It should only fill the hunger to crack the JEE Main 2019.
